Perspectives
Fire and water are the age-old symbols for the home. This is fitting, because the home is our safe haven from the hardships of the world, offering food, warmth, and regeneration. The Perspectives section in this blog strives to give you inspiring ideas for your immediate personal environment by allowing leading international architects, designers, and other people interested in the aesthetic aspects of everyday life to air their points of view and their particular perceptions of quality.
The point of departure for the Perspectives section is no less than the book by the same title, published by Gerd Bulthaup in 2004. If we have now decided to include, in addition to recent contributions, a series of essays from that book written over a decade ago, it is because their unquestionable ongoing relevance called for doing so. And this is hardly a coincidence: at bulthaup, timelessness is a key value. The fundamental questions and the answers provided–some more specific, others more open-ended–continue to bear witness to this fact.
Enjoy.
