It’s the accessories that put the finishing touches on a kitchen’s composition. And nobody knows this better than bulthaup.

„The whole worlds lies in the detail“, said French philosopher Roland Barthes in his work on aesthetics entitled „Mythologies“. His fascination with the perfect surface and the seamlessness of a reined design includes the peripheral areas of things: it encompasses even the lock on the door, a towel hook or the handle of a pan. Even the smallest bulthaup accessory embodies the company’s philosophy and is coordinated perfectly in terms of form and function to bulthaup’s kitchen systems. And when something has proven itself in your own day-to-day lives, then you’re happy to offer it to friends, perhaps as a small gift.

One, two or three bulthaup herb pots filled with fragrant thyme, coriander or rosemary instead of the classic and –not very original- bouquet of flowers. This not only saves the host from having to hunt around for a suitable vase, doing away with the need for the urgent preoccupation with putting the flowers in water, but also has a beautiful, practical and long-lasting impact on their kitchen: the post, made from white, ribbed porcelain in the popular „herb pot size“ can be replanted with each season.

Or, as a gift to your guests, why not fill up a simple, yet beautiful bulthaup wooden box, which is available in various designs and sizes, with tasty tidbits and a bottle of something tempting? Later, the „packaging“ can be used for its original function: depending on its size, it may in future become a storage box for food such as potatoes, onions and apples, or it can be used to store cooking and baking ingredients in kitchen drawers and on shelves.

According to an ancient custom, one which is still in fact practiced in may places around the world, offering someone bread and salt when they move into a new home will ensure prosperity. So when you’re giving this gift of bread, why not present it in the bulthaup bread pot made from clay. Clay has the property of both storing moisture and allowing the bread to breathe. The combination of the clay container and maple lid creates the perfect climate for bread, preventing the formation of mold. And because bulthaup accessories are designed with practicality in mind, the lid can also be used as a board for slicing bread.

And talking about slicing bread…If you like your worktops to be free of crumbs and you’re not fond of wiping and swiping up, thenm the bulthaup crumb tray is just what you need. When you slice the bread on the trivet made from steamed maple, which in turn rest on the deep wooden tray, it catches the crumbs with ease. Never has getting rid of breadcrumbs been easier!

So now for the salt, which also merits a worthy packaging. In the custom we mentioned above, salt represents luxury, while bread represents basic nutrition. In ages none by, salt was so precious that it was literally worth its weight in gold. That could be more appropriate than to present this „white gold“ in the bulthaup spice tin made from aluminum and glass or for larger quantities- in a bulthaup storage tin made from white porcelain? Practical, durable and beautiful kitchen accesories make the perfect gift for any occasion. But they’re especially welcome when someone is moving into a new home or when perhaps two friends are getting married. bulthaup accessories thanks to their superlative quality and timeless design, are the perfect wedding present and will serve as a constant reminder of the kindness of a person why gave the gift. That’s because they’re designed to offer many years of reliable use.

Take, for example, the bulthaup work boards which depending on what they’re used for, are available in various designs. They are all made from high quality maple which has been processed  and treated in accordance with the board’s intended function. For the chopping board, for example, end-grain wood is used, since it can withstand high impacts. For work  cutting boards on the other hand, the most important feature is their resistance to moisture; glued and oiled solid wood will not swell and is easy to clean under running water. Whether you want to surprise the young couple with a durable chopping board, a handy cutting board with stainless stell handle, a versatile work board or a pasta board that will inspire keen cooks and fans of home-made pasta all depends on the recipients‘ request and cooking practices.

The easiest people to surprime with bulthaup accessories, however, are the ones who already have a bulthaup kitchen or other bulthaup accessories. Next time you’re paying them a visit, take a surreptitious glance around your host‘ kitchen. May be the bulthaup b3 functional strip is already affixed to the wall, for hanging useful utensils such as knife block or the kitchen roll holder. In this case, there’s certainly an accessory or two still to be found that make their work in the kitchen even easier. Next time you visit, your gift can stop your host from having to root around in drawers for a corkscrew, scissor or rarely-used ingredients. Or maybe simply offer them something for their birthday.
